Manchester’s favourite winter tradition is back, and it’s bigger, brighter, and greener than ever! On October 24, Skate Manchester officially opened its doors to an excited crowd of skaters, stars, and supporters. The launch night was packed with festive energy, as special guests, including the Lord Mayor of Manchester Councillor Carmine Grimshaw, media personalities, influencers, and long-time friends of the rink came together to celebrate the start of the city’s most magical season.
Powered by the Wind – Thanks to Octopus Energy!
This year, we’re skating toward a more sustainable future, and we couldn’t do it without our incredible main partner, Octopus Energy. They have brought something truly extraordinary to the rink: a giant wind turbine that helps partially power Skate Manchester, making it one of the most sustainable ice rinks in the UK.
And that’s not all! Beneath the turbine sits a motioned Winter Village Snow Globe. A dazzling little attraction in its own right and a must-see photo spot for anyone visiting Cathedral Gardens. It’s the perfect blend of festive fun and forward-thinking energy – a little Manchester masterpiece!
